I love remotes!

This is the new normal around our house. Ryan knows where every remote is and can somehow work our complicated TV system. I don't know how he does it. I never let him play with remotes and one day he just walked up to one that I didn't realize was left out, pointed it at the TV and voila...instant action. He has been "hooked" ever since. You would think with the remote fascination would come TV show fascination, but no. The child will sit still to watch nothing...mainly because he NEVER sits still. :) the only time I have that he will watch a program is in the car. He loves the 2 dvds that I have in there. All of our other ones, he could care less!!

I guess this is a good thing, but man, what I wouldn't give for 15 minutes of "down" time!! hahaha

Also, Mimi and Doc sent a Boston hat for Easter....Ryan, of course, had to try them on.
I should mention also that the fabulous crocs Ryan has been wearing were an early Easter gift from Gigi and Pop. He loves BOTH gifts and I can see what he is going to be in for the rest of the spring and summer!

My sweet curls...gone forever

Ryan got his first haircut today. We took him up to Sports Clips - I know, I know...I really could have come up with something more cutesy for his first haircut, but it just didn't happen. So, off we went this morning before naptime to "get a little trim".
Well, by the time we left I had a full scale little toddler looking at me.
My baby is gone and in his place a happy, independent little toddler has emerged. Amazing transformation.

Ryan did such a great job while he was getting his hair cut. He sat in the booster for most of it and then I held him so she could do the last little bit of clean up around his ears. We walked outside and Ryan had a blast playing around some of the shops. After that outing and a short nap, we ventured to a pizza place that we have been wanting to try for a while and always put it off. Ryan did great in there too and ate a WHOLE PIECE of PIZZA. Wow...they were not small either. :)
He is now in bed and we are back to school on Monday. YEA!

PS. Doggy has definitely made the rounds with us this week. He has been to the zoo, to chick-fil-a, one a walk around Mtn. Brook, on EVERY walk in Ross Bridge, and finally to Sports Clips. Looks like someone is getting attached.

Not liking getting spritzed by water.

Spring is Near

My Laid Back Child
Just a few random shots from this month.

We have been having fun the past 2 weeks getting outside and enjoying the weather.
It is spring break this week so I am trying to find things to fill our days....no school, no Kids Gym...AAAHHH...what's a Mom to do?

Crazy hair, crazy steps, crazy baby!!

I am ready to play. Look at all of Riley's balls I collected. How many more can I find....Riley...where are you?

Gigi and Pop Visit

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

Reading Books - one of my new favorite things.

Getting ready for a fight...

It's mine, no, I want it...fighting...you would think they were brothers they way they fight over toys!!

Looks like Jake won this round...

Oh well, off to another toy. :)

and the happy winner is Jake and the grocery cart....Beth, I am telling you...this should be the next purchase. He LOVES it!

Friends again!

Ryan -- "I am not so sure about the white stuff"

We finally got some snow. The first Mike and I have seen since we were in Charlotte in 2007. I was so excited and made Mike get out of bed early so that we could take Ryan out for his first glimpse of...SNOW!

Waiting and Watching...
the blue eyes just kill me...don't mind the hair...little bit of bed head.

So, we bundled Ryan up in his sweatsuit and coat -- I mean who has winter clothes for a 13 month old in Birmingham?? Definitely not us. The hodge podge will have to do. With great anticipation we take him outside and set him down in the 3 in of snow and wait for his reaction. It was slow to come, but I think he enjoyed it...well, for the first 5 minutes anyway. After that he was OVER it and I do mean OVER it! Poor thing, his feet were cold, his hands were icey (because he refused to keep his gloves on) and his little head had icicles in his hair from the still falling white stuff. Thank goodness we at least got some pictures of Ryan's 1st snow. :)

It really was pretty though. All in all I think we got about 4", but you would never know by the end of the day. It stopped snowing around noon and by 1:30/2pm it was ALL GONE. It went from freezing temperatures to 48 degrees in record time. So, all of our snow was gone...but it was so pretty while it lasted. Check out our "5 minutes of Snow Fun".

Jake is checking out the snow. I don't think he likes it anymore than Ryan did.
